The strong partnership of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the 58th Infantry Battalion at Brgy. Migbanday, Claveria secured the livelihood of rebels who came back to the government’s fold.
Just recently, 30 former rebels received livelihood assistance amounting to P600, 000.00 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). This was made possible through the initiative of the PSWDO-MisOr and the 58th Infantry Battalion whom from the start never disregarded the needs of the former rebels who came back to their communities. The former rebels were very happy as each one received P20,000.00.
According to PSWDO, the main objective of the project is to secure the welfare of former rebels by giving them fresh start that they may be able to progress and develop into possessing their own livelihood.
This program for former rebels is accordance to Republic Act No. 7160 and Local Government Code of 1991 which states that it is the responsibility of each LGU to develop strategies, plans and solutions to answer the needs of their constituents including the needy, the less privileged, and the minority.
